Solstrand Hotel & Bad, “the most accessible hideaway by the fjord”, is situated right on the shore of Bjørnefjorden and only 30 km from Bergen city and the airport. For a hundred years, Solstrand's exquisite location, beautiful surroundings and magnificent view of the fjord and mountains have fascinated travellers from far and wide.
Solstrand was built in 1896 as a holiday resort for the Bergen merchant-princes. Restoration and extension have allowed us to enhance the services we provide, but the "light, airy and picturesque wooden house" still retains its turn-of-the-century charm in a rich natural and cultural landscape. The hotel is privately owned and has been run by the Schau-Larsen family for 4 generations. The family’s strong involvement, their hospitality and care for their guests have been Solstrand’s trademark for generations.
Solstrand is today, a member of Historical Hotels of Norway and has earned the St Olav's Rose which is the hallmark of Norwegian Heritage.
Solstrand regularly hosts an exciting mixture of meetings, family gatherings, spa guests, tourists, and incentive groups.
Our kitchen has always been faithful to local food traditions, that is, local ingredients with local and international tastes. Due to our location we serve lots of fish and seafood.
